Duncan Ross

Young Person’s Newspaper

Participants:   Youths from the neighbourhood and close- by areas

Time:              Wednesdays’, 7-9pm

Where:           Container hub next to the garden

Lead artist:   Duncan Ross

This project and it’s participants/ journalists will produce a local newspaper and make it available to the community through a specially designed dispenser. The paper’s aim will be to foster good relationships between young people and older generations, build friendships between participants and present a positive image of young people from the area.

Artist Duncan Ross will be working every Wednesday evenings 7 – 9pm at the container hub next to the garden. The group numbers will be about ten boys and girls aged around thirteen. It is planned to link up with other groups on the Antrim Road and also to reach out to others in the community through some of the newspaper content.

The first session with the group generated a lot of ideas -see below-  and it is likely that the participants  will need to work outside of the main workshop times in order to realize some of the articles.

Draft newspaper  project plan.
